I’m sure everyone can identify with me when I have the dreaded “post vacation blues”. Every fabulous and luxurious trip to a new stunning destination is always followed with poverty, obesity and exhaustion. I managed to gain a whopping 20 pounds in two and a half weeks and my depression level is through the roof. Now as I sit in my flat with no money and starving myself until further notice, I have only fond memories of Italy to pass the time.
Cities : Milano, Venezia, Firenze & Roma
I had a truly fab family vacation with my little knucklehead brother as we reconnected with our Italian roots through the consumption of bread, pasta, cheese, and rose’ . Certain highlights of each place are advertised and each city is amazing. However, I do have a few thoughts on touring Italy in the middle of August – DON’T.
I don’t want to rehash bad memories, but see below a note I made while in Vatican City that pretty much summarizes my thoughts and feelings.
” Visiting the Vatican Museum in August feels like entering the first level of hell. Filled to the brim with people who don’t understand personal hygiene, courtesy or that I will cut you if you bump into me again ( talking to you- Chinese group leader).”
The sentiment pretty much carried to everywhere else on the itinerary. Italy in August is crowded, hot and miserable yet beautiful and filled with delicious and yummy food and wine.
Photos as always to give a snapshot of our wonderful summer trip.
