Much to my pleasure I realized I had an extra week of summer vacation (!!!) Only problem was that I had no clue what to do with it. What a girl in Paris and no money to do? REIMS – duh! For years and years I have been indulging in the #wateroftheGods aka champagne and always wanted to visit the Champagne region. Yesterday I finally made the voyage ( 45 min train ride) to Reims and had one of those perfect days. I started out at the cathedral. Im not sure why, but grand churches always make me want to cry. I walked around to see the stain glass windows (each window was a different design) and the tall delicate archways. Out of habit I light a candle – this time I asked for self control. In my haste to live a fabulous life I realize I just do too much. Spend too much. Drink too much. Eat too much. Indulge TOO MUCH. I try to slow down but the inner diva monster inside me wins everytime. That being said I hightailed out of the church and made my way to the Tattinger Champagne house. Dear God – I was in girl heaven. They let ME down in the cellar to see over 2 million bottles of wine (fools). Deeply awestruck and excited I could have fainted. After, we tried three of the champagnes ranging from the brut reserve to the rose. Yum Yum Yum. Feeling high off of the bubbles I strolled over to Veuve Clicquot which is a 5 minute walk away. Now there are three to four champagnes that I drink happily : Moet, Laurent Perrier, Tattinger and Veuve Clicquot. Going to Veuve Clicquot was an absolute dream. The entry way alone got me excited. I did a tour and went down into their cellar as well. Came back up to have champagne in the garden. I really felt like a star. Fab day in Champagne and so happy that I made the decision to go. Barely made the train (stole a wine glass) and zoomed back home to Paris. Happy girl.
Lesson of the day – Just do what you want and worry about the details after.
